Skinny Fit Crunchy Detox Salad Recipe

I always hated salads growing up but after years of dieting and eating them at least 4 times a week, I’ve grown used to having a fridge full of vegetables. They’ve not only helped me lose weight but also improved my health as well. So here is my favorite crunchy detox salad recipe I highly recommend you try! 

So we all know that the body already has its own natural detoxification system so why do we even need to detox? Well, it’s because we accumulate so many toxins from foods, drinks, and the environment that our kidneys, liver, and digestive system start to lag.

This is when we need to give it a boost, like a restart, we have to cut down on sugar, fatty, and processed foods and start adding fresh fruits, vegetables, and detox drinks to our diet. Once we do, it’s like resetting our natural detoxification system and we begin to feel rejuvenated and healthy.

A crunchy detox salad is a salad that contains crunchy ingredients like nuts, seeds, and vegetables like carrots and cabbage. They make crunchy sounds in your mouth as you chew on them which is extremely satisfying. In some countries like Lebanon or Turkey, toasted pita bread is added for extra crunch and flavor but that can increase your carb and calorie intake.

This crunchy detox salad is filled with mouth-watering vegetables that are filling, nutritious, and filled with soo many amazing health benefits. However, you will need to be on a low-calorie diet plan for this detox salad to do you any real good. Make sure to read about the benefits of this salad below.

4 Servings Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of carrots chopped really small
  • 1 cup of broccoli chopped really small
  • 1 cup of red cabbage thinly sliced or chopped
  • 1 cup of fresh parsley thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup of red onions chopped
  • 1 green apple cored and chopped
  • 1 celery stalk chopped
  • 1 small radish chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted toasted sunflower seeds
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted toasted almonds
  • 1 tablespoon of raisin or 6 grapes sliced in halves

Preparation:

In a very large bowl, add all of your ingredients and mix them with the crunchy salad dressing (recipe below). Go ahead and serve immediately so that you get all the benefits right away. Please make sure to always wash your vegetables thoroughly before using them in your salads.

Ingredients:

Mix all of the ingredients below to make your crunchy detox salad dressing. You can add in more lemon juice if you prefer a more sour taste. Make sure to add it to your salad right away or store it in an airtight jar.

  • 1/2 teaspoon of Himalayan salt
  • 2 tablespoons of organic virgin olive oil
  • 3-4 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of organic raw honey
  • 1 inch of ginger peeled and grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried mint leaves

How Does The Crunchy Detox Salad Detox The Body?

Well, carrots contain carotenoid which is an antioxidant that helps the body get rid of free radicals while broccoli comes with a compound known as sulforaphane which has been shown to help boost the liver’s natural ability to remove toxins.

Red cabbage is a gut-healing superfood that improves digestion and digestive health due to its high amounts of fiber and vitamin C which is also an antioxidant. Parsley is rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, folate, and B12, all of which are known to improve the body’s natural detoxification process.

Red onions contain an antioxidant called quercetin which also helps protect the body against other harmful diseases. Green apples are rich in fiber and low in calories, which helps keep you and regular bowel movements are important for removing toxins.
