Finding purpose as a stay-at-home mom can be tricky but don’t worry, in this post, I will share some of the tips that helped me find my path. Being a full-time mom is a gift but can sometimes feel like a curse when you’ve worn yourself down by trying to be perfect.

Wanting to be the perfect mom to your kids is amazing but it’s common to lose sight of yourself in the process. That’s because motherhood becomes the new norm and pulling away is usually difficult.

Here are the best ways to find your true purpose again as a SAHM.

Finding Purpose As A Stay-At-Home Mom

I have four kids, two teens, one preteen, and a toddler, I have been a full-time mom for the past 15 years, and trust me, it hasn’t been easy!

You see, focusing on being a mom for too long can lead to unwanted physical and emotional changes, these changes are called mom burnout.

Mom burnout is when you feel drained physically, mentally, and emotionally. When left untreated, it can affect your perspective on life.

It’s important to know the signs and find ways to overcome mom burnout to be able to move on to brighter things in your life.

Now that we’ve got that covered, here are the steps in finding your purpose as a stay-at-home mom.

Step 1. Setting Boundaries

The first step in actually finding your purpose is to set time apart for YOU. The only way to successfully do this is by setting boundaries.

I know, it may not be easy especially when you carry all the responsibilities but you have to delegate at some point. Once you have a support system set into place, plan your schedule.

So maybe after delegating, you have a full hour or two to yourself during the day, do not let this time be interrupted. Put boundaries in place and do not negotiate. No means No!

Step 2. Reflect & Identify Your Skills

The second step is to use your time wisely. Take a while to reflect on your passion and values. So maybe you like sewing or crafting, or you have a degree in teaching.

Identify your true skills and what brings you joy, something that you are truly passionate about. Maybe it’s something you’ve always dreamed of doing while growing up.

Do some deep soul-searching. This part is always the hardest but totally worth it.

Step 3. Explore Other Ideas

Next, you may want to explore other ideas and interests like learning a new skill, this will be the time to reflect on those interests as well.

Maybe you’ve always wanted to expand on a hobby, volunteer for a cause you believe in, or start a small business from home. Take a while to brainstorm different ideas.

Step 3. List them Down

Your next step is to list everything down, now I’m not talking about typing them in your phone’s notepad, you want to get a journal and write them down the old-fashioned way.

Why? Well, because you would be surprised by how many ideas and memories will come rushing through when you hold a pen to paper.

Also, using a phone will only cause distractions which you definitely do not want when laying a solid foundation for your future.

Step 4. Set Goals

You’ve come a long way, it’s time to set your goals for your future. Research shows that setting goals helps guide your focus and sustain momentum in life.

It’s true, I’ve managed to get a lot done in my life as a full-time mom of 4 just by setting my goals and working toward them. You also want to make sure to list down your goals (very important).

Step 5. Achieving Your Goals

Here’s a little backstory, 10 years ago, I was a broke single mom of 3 with no help. I had to find a way to support my kids as a stay-at-home mom.

I don’t have a college degree and absolutely no skills whatsoever! We needed money to put food on the table and my only option was to work from home.

Thank God for youtube, I started watching tons of videos on how to make money from home, and that’s when I heard about blogging.

Long story short, I set out with a goal to succeed in blogging and support my kids through it and it wasn’t easy but I did it and you can too.

Once you’ve set your goals, you need to put in the work. Quitting is not an option while on the road to success.

Yes, I didn’t start out with the luxury of doing what I loved but now, I find true happiness in helping others through my blog which I think is my true purpose.

Step 6. Join Groups

So in most cases, it’s hard to come up with ideas on your own which is why I think that you should join some online groups and communities.

You would be surprised by how many other moms are trying to find themselves just like you. These groups can help you connect, share your experiences, exchange ideas and learn soo much.

Conclusion

I hope this post helped you or inspired you in finding your own purpose as a SAHM. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Don’t forget to save this post for later cause it really helps my blog.

Until next time, please stay awesome.
