Inflammation is a very common health problem that affects everyone regardless of age. When left untreated, it can lead to many serious health issues.
That’s why it’s important to add anti-inflammatory foods to your diet as often as possible. Luckily, there are tons of options and remedies available online to help you reduce your symptoms.
Anti-Inflammatory Soup Cleanse
In a nutshell, inflammation occurs when the immune system acts up against germs, bacteria, viruses, fungi chemicals, and toxins.
Unfortunately, all of the above are around us daily in the air we breathe, the foods we eat, and the water we drink. There is no way to protect your body from inflammation but you can control it.
There are 2 main types of inflammation, acute and chronic. Acute inflammation happens when our immune system responds to injury.
Chronic inflammation on the other hand is when the body continues to respond to injury even when there is none.
Some of the most common signs of inflammation are redness, swelling, heat, pain, and loss of function in specific parts of the body.
To reduce inflammation naturally, it is recommended that you get enough sleep daily, eat antioxidant-rich foods, exercise often and drink enough water.
With that being said, here is your anti-inflammatory soup cleanse that you can start adding to your diet right away!
Anti-Inflammatory Soup Cleanse Recipe
This anti-inflammatory soup cleanse yields 5 servings and takes around 45 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of chicken breast
- 3 cups of broccoli florets (cut into bite size)
- 6 cups of chicken broth (try my homemade chicken broth recipe)
- 1 large bell pepper (diced)
- 5 large celery stalks (chopped)
- 2 medium carrots (peeled & chopped)
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1/2 a lemon juice (freshly squeezed optional)
Preparation:
Start by heating the olive oil and browning the chicken breast on both sides, this may take you around 8-10 minutes if you are using medium or low heat.
Once you are done, go ahead and shred the chicken breast and set it aside. In the heat pot and oil, add in the onions and sautee them for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
Add in the garlic and carrots and let them cook with the onions for another 3-5 minutes. Next add in the broccoli, chicken broth, shredded chicken, celery, and bell pepper.
Finally, add in the black pepper, and turmeric. This recipe does not contain any salt because the chicken broth already has a lot. Adding more salt will only increase your salt intake.

How This Anti-inflammatory Soup Cleanse Works
Similar to kale, collard greens, cabbage, and spinach, broccoli contains an antioxidant called sulforaphane that reduces cytokines which is a molecule that drives inflammation in the body.
Celery contains an anti-inflammatory compound called luteolin which is very effective in reducing inflammation. It also contains a plant compound called apigenin which is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral.
Carrots are great for inflammation because they contain both vitamin A and beta-carotene both of which are anti-inflammatory agents. Note that cooking carrots make them more effective.
Similar to broccoli, garlic also contains something called diallyl disulfide which helps reduce cytokines. Adding this amazing herb to your foods can really help reduce inflammation.
Bell peppers are amazing because they contain a compound called capsaicin which has been shown to not only reduce inflammation but pain as well.
Lastly, there’s the famous turmeric which not only reduces inflammation-causing enzymes but also prevents blood clots as well. You may want to try these delicious creamy cauliflower chicken soup, carrot soup, chicken soup, bean soup, or cabbage detox soup as well.

Hi, this soup sounds delicious but I have a couple questions. 1, what is a soup cleanse? Does that mean it cleanses your intestinal tract? I’m always confused about that! 2, I have IBS so I’m very intolerant to onion and garlic, and broccoli isn’t the best. Will I get the same anti inflammatory results without these. I can use garlic infused oil for some flavor though and leeks for onion flavor or chives or green onion tops. Thank you for replying, as I really do need to get rid of some of the both acute and chronic inflammation!
Gonna make this soup, but curious how long the cooking time is?
Hey Karen, sorry for the late reply, it’ll take about 45 minutes total time tops.
