What Makes This Smoothie Healthy?
Flaxseeds – have some amazing health benefits and are perfect for fighting inflammation thanks to their omega-3 fatty acids profile. Studies show that eating omega-3-rich foods, especially seeds, can help reduce inflammatory markers in the body.
Berries – are also great for reducing inflammation because they contain a ton of antioxidants, now of course fresh berries will get you the best benefits but frozen berries are good too.
Lemons – are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants that help reduce oxidative stress a leading factor of inflammation.
Both cinnamon and ginger contain anti-inflammatory properties as well so you need to start adding them to your recipes.
Bananas are a great source of magnesium, potassium, and prebiotics all of which are effective in reducing inflammatory cytokines in the body.
Frozen Mixed Berries Smoothie For Inflammation
You don’t have to use the agave syrup, it’s optional but I found that it gave the smoothie a little sweetness. You can also use almond milk instead of water. Almond milk is a good source of vitamin E and it also contains antioxidants.
