Do you want a healthy summer drink to satisfy your thirst without feeling guilty? I think you should try this anti-inflammatory turmeric lemonade. I drink this turmeric lemonade all the time when I have flare-ups and it really helps with the pain.
Although not as sweet as your regular lemonades, you’ll still get a tinge of sweetness from the honey. I used agave nectar when I was making this recipe cause I was out of honey and it was okay. However, I recommend you use raw organic honey because it has a lot more health benefits.
Benefits Of Turmeric Lemonade
Turmeric – contains a main ingredient called curcumin which does wonders for inflammation. Studies show that curcumin may be just as effective as ibuprofen for treating pain caused by inflammation.
However, for your body to properly absorb turmeric, you will need to consume it shortly before or after meals because it binds to fats from the foods you eat. Alternatively, you can add a teaspoon of coconut oil to your turmeric drinks for the same effect.
Lemon Juice – is packed with vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant that prevents cell damage. As you may already know, chronic inflammation causes cell damage so drinking lemon juice can help prevent this.
Honey – has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and really helps reduce gut inflammation plus, it’s a natural prebiotic.
Anti-Inflammatory Turmeric Lemonade
Just a little tip, use glass containers when working with turmeric because it will leave a stain if you choose plastic. I learned this the hard way and had to soak my blender in lemon and bicarbonate mixture to get rid of the stain.
Ingredient for 2 servings | Total time: 10 minutes
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric
- 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice
- a pinch of black pepper
- 2 cups of water
- 1 cup of ice

- a sprig of mint leaves (optional)

Add the water, turmeric, lemon juice, honey, and ice to the blender and blend for 1 minute. Next, transfer the lemonade to a glass pitcher and let it sit for 5 minutes until all the turmeric sinks to the bottom.
